let’s build hope, communities, and homes

let’s build hope, communities, and homes.

We build strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter

With the help of volunteers, donors, partners, and Habitat homeowners, we build and rehabilitate decent and affordable homes, from single-family houses to multi-unit developments.

Since 2002, we’ve helped 100 families into affordable homeownership in the Peterborough and Kawartha Region.

Where Community Comes Home

  • A father and his pre-teen daughter stand together beaming as they hold up an oversized Habitat branded house key cutout

    Meet Derrick & Maelyn

    Leahy’s Lane Phase II

Derrick and his daughter Maelyn are one of many families in the area struggling with the high rising costs of rent and are currently living in a two-bedroom apartment that is not very well insulated, making their heating costs very expensive each winter.

  • A couple are smiling in front of their neighbourhood street, he is dressed in cheery yellow and she has a beautiful patterned dress

    Meet Dharmik & Shali

    Leahy’s Lane Phase II

Dharmik and Shaili have always wanted to have their own space, but with the rising interest rates and housing market prices being at an all-time high, finding a decent and affordable home to purchase in the Peterborough area was challenging.

  • A mother and her teenage son have their arms around one another, and are smiling for the camera

    Meet Ariel & Hugo

    Leahy’s Lane Phase II

Ariel and her son Hugo live in an old and beautiful downtown building that is now in a poor deteriorating condition. Like many families in the City of Peterborough, the rising rental costs and increasingly high-interest rates for housing made the opportunity of finding an alternative affordable home to rent or buy feel far out of reach.
